Reports Auger’s identification of a new spectral feature (“instep”) near 10^19 eV in addition to the ankle and the steepening/suppression, based on 215,030 events over 14 years of surface-detector operation with energies >2.5x10^18 eV. relevance_note: most statistically powerful modern primary Auger spectrum result; the flux normalization this and its companion PRD paper give is the current best empirical input for the “10^31 LHC-equivalent collisions” estimate.
